Title

Description
English: Fragment of a copper alloy roman Trumpet brooch, c. 1st century AD. (c.75 - 175 AD). The fragment consists of the flared 'trumpet' head of the brooch and part of the bow. The hinge mechanism, pin and catchplate are missing. The head has crescent shaped cells for coloured enamel.A very tiny piece of blue enamel survives in one of these. There is a mid-bow knob which appears to be decorated with the acanthus motif common to this type of brooch. The surface of the brooch is abraded with a pale green patina.
