Copper alloy Polden Hill (Colchester derivative) Roman Brooch c. 75-175AD.
Description
English: Fragment of a copper alloy Polden Hill (Colchester derivative) type brooch dating c75-175 AD.  The brooch is incomplete with the spring, axis bar, pin and catchplate missing.  The cylindrical wings are abraded but do not appear to have been decorated.  The bow is sub-circular in section.  The fragment has a pale green patina with very little original surface surviving.  The whole object is very worn and abraded.

Dimensions:  length: 25.3mm; width: 27.2mm; thickness of the bow: 7.0mm; weight: 19.64g
