Copper alloy 'half joe' coin weight with value of 18 shillings, c. 1760-1773AD.
Description
English: A complete copper-alloy bifacial coin weight, for the Portuguese 'joe' gold coins, issued between 1760 and 1773 AD. The value of 18 shillings indicated was equivalent to the 'half joe'/2 escudos coin (Withers & Withers 2011, 66).

Both faces are marked with a small letter S above a larger 18 above a small 4.1/4, all within a border made of small pellets.  The coin weight has a rough surface and is dark brown in colour.

Diameter: 21.9mm; thickness: 2.7mm; weight: 6.3g
