Terms and Vacations. The Annual Commencement is held on the last Thursday of June^The first term begins nine weeks after the day of Commencement, andcontinues fifteen weeks; the second term begins three weeks after theclose of the first term, and continues twelve weeks; the third term be-gins one week after the close of the second, and continues twelve weeks,until the day of the Annual Commencement. The Collegiate year isthus divided into three terms, of nearly equal length. The interveningperiods of one, three and nine weeks, are devoted to the vacations. It is highly important that students be punctual in entering upon theirduties at the commencement of each term.

The course of study in this Department embraces all the branchesof a thorough English education, together with the rudiments of Mathe-matics, of the Latin and Greek Languages, and of Natural Philosophy. The regular studies are arranged to prepare students to enter Col-lege; but the instructions are also adapted to the wants of those whodo not design to take a full Collegiate course. Those who wish to en-gage in business will receive instruction in Book-keeping and Com-mercial Accounts. Those who are preparing to become teachers orengineers, or to engage in any mechanical pursuits, will be allowed toprosecute such studies, either in the Preparatory or Collegiate Depart-ment, as will best qualify them f
