English: Aerial View of Yokota Air Base on 1 March 1957. Visible are (among others) 22 Convair B-36F Peacemaker of the 6th Bomb Wing. In March 1957, during the operational exercise "White Horse", the 6th Bomb Wing flew a Unit Simulated Combat Mission from Walker Air Force Base, New Mexico (USA), via Hickam AFB, Hawaii, to Anderson AFB, Guam. The exercise missions were then launched against simulated targets at Zamboanga, Mindanao, Philippines, Tainan, Formosa and Tokyo, Japan. After successfully "bombing" these targets during a single non-stop sortie, the aircraft returned to Kadena Air Base, Okinawa (Japan). The non-stop return flight to Walker AFB from Kadena was then scheduled to take about 27 hours.
