Summary

[edit]
Description The Congress Street Bascule Bridge over the Fort Point Channel, Boston, viewed from the nearby Sumner Street Bridge. Built in 1930, it is a single-leaf bascule bridge, but the bascule mechanism has been inoperable since the 1970s, and the draw span is now welded in place. In the lefthand background of this photo, the Seaport Bridge and Northern Avenue Bridge are visible.
