Conchero of the Fiesta de la Santa Cruz, Querétaro, Mexico

Summary[edit]

Description
English: The Fiesta de la Santa Cruz (12 – 15 September) in Querétaro, Mexico, is a syncretistic religious celebration with processions and dances and many thousands of active participants from the entire region. Central location of the celebration is the church of La Santa Cruz (Holy Cross), the oldest Christian temple in Querétaro and site of a mythic battle between christianised and traditional tribes (1531). The name "conchero", by which the dancers are known today, derives from the armadillo shell (concha) that was traditionally used for the body of the lute.
Deutsch: Die Fiesta de la Santa Cruz (12. – 15.
