Description
Italiano: Per determinare il contenuto di azoto in un solido (1-5 g) lo si mescola in un mortaio a caldo con calce sodata (CaO/NaOH 3:1) e vi si riempie parzialmente un tubo B di cristallo, porcellana o ferro lungo 50 cm e diametro 2 cm inserito in una canna di metallo A. Riscaldando lentamente mediante dei fuochi ad alcool C, l'azoto nell'analita verrà liberato come ammoniaca gassosa, che può essere recuperata per assorbimento all'uscita del tubo. L'intera combustione dura all'incirca 40'.
English: To determine the nitrogen content in a solid sample (1-5 g), the material is finely ground in a hot mortar with soda lime (CaO/NaOH 3:1) and used to fill a 50 cm long, 2 cm wide crystal, quartz, porcelain or iron tube B almost to the brim. The tube is held by a metal shell A, and when slowly heated with an alcohol burner C, the nitrogen is converted to gaseous ammonia, which can be collected and absorbed for further analysis. The whole process lasts about 40'.
