English: The Column of Marcus Aurelius is a Doric column, with a spiral relief, built in honour of Roman emperor Marcus Aurelius and modeled on Trajan's Column. It still stands on its original site in Rome, in piazza Colonna, before Palazzo Chigi.
Italiano: La Colonna di Marco Aurelio, monumento di Roma eretto tra il 176 e il 192 per celebrare, forse dopo la sua morte, le vittorie dell'imperatore romano Marco Aurelio (161-180) ottenute su Germani e Sarmati stanziati a nord del medio corso del Danubio. Si trova ancora nella sua collocazione originale, davanti a Palazzo Chigi, e dà il nome alla piazza nella quale sorge, piazza Colonna. |
