Colleges and Universities - Fordham University - With the Ambulance Training Corps at Allentown, Pennsylvania
Description
  • Scope and content: Original Caption: With the Ambulance Training Corps at Allentown, PA. At the big Fair Grounds at Allentown, Pa., Uncle Sam trained ambulance drivers and men for the work they were to do on the battlefields of France. More than 2,000 picked young Americans learned a new business, the business of administering to battered humanity. Practically every university and college in the country was represented in the training camp. And lest the skeptical may think that these men went into the ambulance service to dodge actual fighting, it should be remembered that the mortality among the men of the ambulance corps in this war is as large if not larger than in any other branch of the service. Fordham College Hospital Unit shelled by the Germans; reported June 12, 1918.
