Description
Nederlands: Olieverfschilderij. De schildering verbeeldt een vodou-ritueel, namelijk een ceremonie voor de Marassa Twa. Dat is te zien aan de offers die elk in drievoud worden gegeven. (Drie kaarsen, drie aardewerken kruikjes en drie offergaven op bananenbladeren.)

De Marassa zijn een tweeling, maar kunnen ook als drieling verschijnen. Samen vormen ze één 'Lwa' (geestenwezen). Hierdoor durven niet alle vodou-aanhangers de Marassa te benaderen, omdat ze zo geweldig sterk zijn. Ze staan voor alle kinderen en kunnen zorgen voor overvloed. Ze worden vaak aangeroepen voor geluk en vruchtbaarheid. Offers moeten altijd in tweevoud gegeven worden. Het beste zijn geschenken die zelf al een veelvoud zijn, zoals noten, vruchten of snoepjes. Vaak wordt er ook speelgoed geofferd. Er mag nooit alcohol geofferd worden aan de Marassa. Ook mag er nooit iets wat rood is geofferd worden, want dan kunnen ze boos worden. Blauw en wit zijn hun kleuren. De Marassa Twa (trois) staan voor de drie waardes geloof, hoop en liefdadigheid.
