Nederlands: Fles (onderdeel). Een magische fles ('bouteille magique') dient als beschermend amulet.
Veel vodou-aanhangers geloven dat de flessen een geest of dood persoon bevatten en noemen de flessen soms ook wel zombie flessen. (Filan, K., 2007: 46- 47) Vodou is de officiële godsdienst van het land Haïti en is gebaseerd op West-Afrikaanse religies die door de slavernij in Haïti en andere Caraïbische landen terecht is gekomen. De goden van de religie worden geuit als geestwezens en worden 'Lwa's' genoemd. De vele 'Lwa's' zijn ingedeeld in verschillende naties, waarvan de bekendste de 'Rada Lwa's', de koele, en de 'Petro Lwa's', de hete, zijn. De religie bestaat uit vele rituelen die geleid worden door priesters en die verbonden zijn aan de Lwa en aan de gunst die men verzoekt. Tijdens de rituelen kunnen de priesters in trance raken doordat de 'Lwa' bezit neemt van het lichaam. |

Nederlands: De glazen fles is omwikkeld met gedeeltelijk beschilderd katoen. Op de voorzijde is een zwart met wit omlijnd kruis geschilderd met daarboven een enigszins opgevulde doodskop.
Dergelijke flessen worden gemaakt door 'bokors' (tovenaars) en worden vaak voorzien van rode en zwarte lappen (de kleuren van de 'bokors' van de Bizango gemeenschap, een geheime genootschap). Soms worden de flessen versierd met kleine stukjes spiegelglas om negatieve energie af te weren. Ook worden er soms scherpe objecten op de fles gemaakt, waaraan een vijand zich kan verwonden. Vaak bevatten de flessen botfragmenten, gemixt met alcohol en kruiden. |
