Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Cochwillan The Cochwillan (=red vineyard)complex of buildings, here viewed from a gate way half-way up the hill, comprises of a medieval hall house (on the left) and an early 19th century farmhouse and farm buildings (centre and right). The home of the Williams family, including that of John Williams, the Royalist Archbishop of York at the time of the English (and Welsh)Civil War, the hall had declined by the 1800s to become the barn for the new farm. It remained thus until 1969 when it was restored. The interior of the hall, which belongs to the Penrhyn Estate, can viewed by appointment.
