In gevierteltem Schild zeigen die Felder 1 und 4 in Gold ein schwebendes, gleicharmiges und breitendiges rotes Kreuz, das Wappenbild der Diözese Sankt Pölten, dessen Ursprung im Abzeichen des von Kaiser Friedrich III. 1469 in Millstadt errichteten Sankt-Georgs-Ritterordens zu suchen ist.

Die Felder 2 und 3 zeigen in Blau einen sechsstrahligen goldenen Stern, das Wappenbild des Bischofs Klaus Küng, das er schon als Oberhirte von Feldkirch führte. Der Stern ist ein Symbol für die Gottesmutter Maria.

So verbindet der Bischof das Wappen seiner Diözese mit seinem Eigenzeichen in der seit Jahrhunderten von den Bischöfen Mitteleuropas gebrauchten Form.

Hinter dem Schild steht das goldene Vortragekreuz als das erste bischöfliche Würdezeichen und darunter der bereits in Feldkirch geführte Wahlspruch 'SERVIAM' (= Ich will dienen).

Über allem schwebt das zweite bischöfliche Würdezeichen, der grüne Bischofshut mit zweimal sechs (1, 2, 3) grünen Quasten an grünen Schnüren.
