Description
Español: El escudo histórico de la ciudad de Cuzco [...] tiene su origen en la Real Cédula de 19 de julio de 1540, «un escudo que dentro del esté un castillo de oro en campo colorado,en memoria [de] que la dicha ciudad y el castillo della fueron conquistados por fuerza de armas ennuestro servicio. E por orla ocho cóndures, que son unas aves grandes a manera de buytres que hay en la provincia del Perú,en memoria que al tiempo que la dicha ciu-dad se ganó,abajaron las dichas aves a comer los muertos que en ella murieron,loscuales estén en campo de oro».
