Description

Coal trains, Ithaca NY February 1994. Temperature about -10 degrees F. It was so cold that the aluminum casting of my tripod shattered! Aside from that, this is interesting because of the Union Pacific locomotives. This line is basically a branch line, only going as far as a coal fired power plant. Conrail would run unit coal trains from the mines in Pennsylvania to the plant, so non Conrail power was rarely seen.
