Description |
English: A lead two piece cloth seal. Circular in shape, measuring 22.5mm in daimeter and 8.57g in weight. Disc one has a shield in its centre, with four lions passant in two pairs in its top half and a coat of arms in its lower half. There is a boarder inscription , 'TEFD( ).' Disc two has a boarder inscription,' ILL( ).' Cloth seal were used to mark european cloth for commerical sale and the two piece seals such as this example were in use in the 16th and 17th centuries. |
