Title |
cloth seal |
||
Description |
English: A Post-Medieval two-disc lead cloth seal. Disc one is stamped with the initials TW, and there are three pellets following the edge of the disc below the T, and a five-pointed star at the foot of the W. Disc two with the rivet at the centre, show no signs of inscription or decoration. The two discs are joined by the connecting strip folded over. The discs measures 17.65mm and 17.1mm in diameter, the rivet appears to be oval, 13.46mm x 11.6mm, and the seal weighs 9.3g. This type of cloth seal is likely to be a personal seal of a weaver, clothier or searcher, and to date to the sixteenth to seventeenth centuries. |
