Clipped silver threepence of Charles I from royalist mint at Chester c1640s
Description
English: Silver threepence of Charles I with no initial mark issued during the Civil war from the royalist mint at Chester from the 1640s. The coin is crudely executed with broken lettering and a reversed N in the obv. The obverse has the bust of the king facing left with III behind. The reverse has a squared shield. The coin has been clipped and only part of the legend remains. On the obverse that reads [F]AN ET HIB REX and on the reverse [CHRISTO A]VSPICE REG[NO].
