Michael Parks, commander of the Ninth Coast Guard District; Ohio Senator George Voinovich; and Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson participate in a cermonial groundbreaking for the construction of the new Coast Guard facility at the Cleveland moorings, Nov. 23, 2010. This represents the beginning of the projects first phase, the construction of 24,500 square feet of operational, adminstrative and crew berthing spaces that incorporate LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) environmental standards.
