Español: Esta obra está inspirada en un pasaje de la vida del cardenal Francisco Jiménez de Cisneros (1436-1517), regente de España y arzobispo de Toledo. El cardenal, a quien algunos grandes habían preguntado que con qué poderes aspiraba a gobernar el reino, les señaló con un gesto de su mano a algunos de los soldados que habitualmente le servían de escolta, para indicarles que en ellos basaba su poder.
