Description
English: "Circular Road, Calcutta," watercolour, by the Anglo-Indian artist Thomas Prinsep, who died in 1830. Dated 1827-1828. From a family long resident in India, Prinsep died in 1830 after a riding accident. This watercolour carries the notation: "'An unfinished sketch by Tom of the Circular Road; a mosque, a hakuree, a Kuranchee or hackney coach, a police tannah or station for chowkeydars'."
