Description

Painting at the ceiling of Church of Atotonilco, an 18th century church in the state of Guanajuato, Mexico.

  • The ceiling depicts the passion of Christ, with this section showing the betrayal of Judas and the role of the devil.
  • Notice the interpretation of the Roman soldiers. The artists, for lack of reference, utilized the model of the Spanish soldiers, a recourse used in art for lack of visual reference.
