| Description |
English: Cholwich Town Also called Cholwichtown Farm on maps. "A splendid granite group .... surviving in face of the encircling china-clay spoil heaps" (Cherry & Pevsner). Hoskins writes: " one of the best examples of a moorland yeoman's house that one can find anywhere round Dartmoor, a rock-like structure of moor- stone dating from the late 15th century to early 16th century" Approachable now only from the east; the southern drive has disappeared under a mountain of waste. |
