he date 1620; two antique carved chests; a series of European andOriental bronzes; seven panels of Swiss stained glass, of the six-teenth and seventeenth centuries, which are added to the valuablecollection of similar glass previously presented by Miss Lewis, andthe sum of $1000 for the purchase of exhibition cases. With theseadditions it is believed that the Museum collections of enamelsand stained glass are now among the most comprehensive of theirkind in this country. The enamels occupy seven cases, three ofwhich are in the East Gallery, and four nearby, in the BloomfieldMoore room. PEESSIi^G NEEDS OF THE MUSEUM The most pressing need of the Museum at present is an addi-tional fund for the extension of its valuable collections. With theannual income from the Joseph E. Temple Trust many of the mostimportant collections and objects in the Museum have been pur-chased, and each year the name of this generous patron appearson an ever-increasing number of labels. The income derived from the Temple bequest, however, is farfrom sufficient to permit the Trustees to take advantage of the op-portunities constantly presented for the acquirement of the moredesirable objects ofiered for sale. Public museums in other citiesare, as a rule, far more liberally endowed, and are thus enabled tosecure many of the important objects which should come to Phila-delphia.
