Description Chinese Crested Tern Thalasseus bernsteini flying in to join its chick and mate (right edge) in a Greater Crested Tern T. bergii colony on Tiedun Dao islet in the East China Sea off Zhejiang. OSU research is helping to restore Chinese Crested Terns to the Jiushan Islands in China. The birds were recently presumed extinct but new colonies have been discovered.
