English: Chess in the City- Everyday Life at the Gambit Chess Rooms, Budge Row, London, England, UK, 1944 Two men chat outside the entrance to the Gambit Chess Rooms, Budge Row, London. Next to the Chess club can be seen 'Britts', described on its signage as a 'kettledrum' restaurant, serving morning coffee and afternoon teas. It is also described as a 'luncheon and sandwich restaurant'. Behind the men can be clearly seen the effects of earlier air raids on the area. A car is parked on the opposite side of the road. |
