It is pleasant to record that thepresent prosperous state of St Johns Lodge, No. 104, is principally owing tothe interest which a few of the brethren connected with the Caledonian Lodge,No. 204, Manchester, also constituted by the Grand Lodge of the Antients,took in it several years ago. By their missionary zeal and efficient workingthey raised the membership from seven to nearly seventy. When compilingthe centenary annals of the Caledonian Lodge we observed many entries inthe minutes referring to paying visits and receiving visiting brethren fromother Lodges, but we did not perceive any to St Johns, No. 104. Probablythis would be owing to members going on their own initiative to Stockportor having had local connections there. The Centenary Banquet was on 13th November 1865, their warrant fromGrand Lodge being dated October 1765. Provis. He also presenteda valuable Jewel to the Lodge in commemoration of the event. AnotherJewel, evidently a repUca, suitably inscribed, was presented to Lord de Tableyby Brother W. H. Williams. W.M. Brother Provis was elected to succeedBrother Williams as Worshipful Master for the following year. In 1866 Lord de Tabley held the first Provincial meeting after his installa-tion in August 1865, at Stockport. Incidentally, it may be mentioned thata Past Master of St Johns Lodge, Brother Wm. Booth, was Provincial GrandDirector of Ceremonies on the Installation of Lord Egerton of Tatton at Chesterin November 1886, and was publically complimented by the Earl of Lathomon the admirable manner in which the days function had been conducted.Indeed throughout, it
