Manuscript letter

Archives Number: 1011/2.2-148#06

My dearest Fanny,
On this your bridal day, when the benedictions of friends mingle with the vows of love that shall be (immortal), let my heart’s prayer not be unheard.
May you be happy! May my dear Henry, happy in your love, make you forever happy in his!
Let the sun shine warmly on the way of your life; let the way be strewn with flowers!
In your friendship I shall always trust. And, from the overflowing (urn) of your happiness, I may draw joy for myself. As a (__nial) memorial of these earnest wishes I send you a very humble offering.
God bless you!
Charles Sumner

If I seemed distraught when Henry called a few minutes since, it was because my pen was then in my hand to write this note
