Son of Rev. Charles J. Byles and Sarah Usher, Charles N. Byles was an early settler of what became Montesano, Washington. He married Elizabeth Jane Medcalf. All three daughters were born in Montesano. Annie died on Bainbridge Island, Washington in 1964. Sarah Naomi married John Leonard Hall on November 6, 1904. Martha Bell married Fred Rosmond in 1905.
