English: This chair along with a matching set of arm chairs and sofa were part of the furniture for the Presidential railroad car built for Lincoln by the United States Government in 1865. The car was finished April 1865 and the President was invited to take a trial run in the car on April 15th. President Lincoln was assassinated April 14th resulting in the car’s transformation into a funeral train.
