English: This is M. Chín Mây, 80 years old. His name means Nine Clouds in Vietnamese. He is very calm but full of energy, he has a soft and comforting voice, and he's still rockin' the paddling of his canoe. Taking people on his boat wasn't part of the plan as he doesn't operate any business anymore but he kindly agreed on taking us for a small trip. He never left his island called An Bình, in Vietnam, but he likes walking and asked me if I came from France by foot. He was also wondering how far California was—he would like to walk there. Once he knew that I mainly flew, he was concerned about people having enough air in a plane. The loveliest.
Tiếng Việt: Người đàn ông này tên Chín Mây, 80 tuổi. Ông ta tuy rất điềm tĩnh nhưng đầy năng lượng, có giọng nói nhẹ nhàng và dễ chịu, vẫn chèo thuyền hàng ngày. Mặc dù đưa khách đi thuyền không phải công việc của ông, bởi ông không còn làm việc, nhưng ông vẫn vui vẻ đưa chúng tôi đi thăm quan bằng thuyền của ông. Ông ấy chưa từng rời cù lao An Bình (Long Hồ, Vĩnh Long, Việt Nam) nhưng ông ấy thích đi bộ và hỏi có phải tôi đến từ Pháp cũng bằng cách đi bộ. Ông ấy cũng thắc mắc California xa tận đâu và ông ta muốn đi bộ ở đó. Khi ông ta biết tôi chủ yếu đi bằng máy bay, ông ta lại thắc mắc làm sao mọi người có đủ không khí trên máy bay. Thật dễ mến.

Il est à la fois très calme et rempli d'énergie, il a une voix douce et apaisante, et il assure toujours autant la pagaie de son canoë. Prendre des personnes sur son bateau ne faisait pas parti du plan puisqu'il n'opère plus aucun business, mais il a gentilment accepté de nous prendre pour un petit tour. Il n'a jamais quitté son île nommée An Bình, au Vietnam, mais il aime la marche et m'a demandé si j'étais venu de France à pieds. Il se demandait aussi à quelle distance se trouve la Californie—il aimerait aller marcher là-bas. Après avoir appris que j'avais principalement pris l'avion, il s'était inquièté de si les personnes avaient suffisament d'air dans un avion. Le plus adorable. |
