he infallible Word of God,and hold that these Scriptures do clearly teach: That Godloves all men; that Jesus Christ tasted death for everyman ; that the Holv Ghost strives with all men; and thatfaith is the one condition of salvation to all men. We be-lieve that infants dying in infancy are saved throughgrace; that water baptism is not for the remission of sins, but is the Scriptural symbol of a separation from sin; andthat every believer should invoke the aid of all public andprivate means of grace to keep himself unspotted from the 62 CENTENNIAL SERMONS AND PAPERS. world. We believe in the life of faith, in the fruits of dieSpirit, in the final overthrow of evil, and in the presentpreservation and ultimate glory of the believer. Thesetruths we hold and teach as a church, as we believe theyare held and taught in the holy Scriptures, to the gloryof God the Father, and of God the Son, and of God theHoly Ghost! Amen ! Aud thus, as I believe, to this good day the canon ofcreeds is closed.

REV. J. W. DUVALLSALISBURY, MO. SOME THINGS THE BIBLE TEACHES ABOUTTHE HOLY SPIRIT. REV. J. W. DUVALL.Ill-: IS A PERSON. In an important matter, we must not take things forgranted, but prove them if we can. If we cannot provethem we must reject them, or take them as the opinionsof men. If they can be proven, then we must accept themor be guiltv of the sin of willfully rejecting the truth. The burden of proof must be drawn from the word ofGod. The Bible is the only infallible book out of all themillion of books in the world. It is not my purpose toattempt to prove the Bible is the word of God. I take itfor granted you all believe it. THE HOLY SPIRIT IS A PERSON. If he is a person we ought to know it. He is not an it,nor an influence, nor an attribute, nor a characteristic, noran emotion, he is a person. He is a be. If the Holy Spiritis a Divine Person and we know it not, then we are rob-bing him of the love, reverence and worship that is duehim. If he is not Divine, then to worship him
