Inscriptions upper cornice, artist’s name and the date of execution: hoc opus fiery fecit loisi[us] de gasparo sub an[n]o d[om]ini mcccclxxi p[er] manum magistri natal is de rausia; the artist was from Dubrovnik (Croatia), the ancient Ragusa, which in the 15th-century, thanks to maritime trade, had become a thriving Republic and a magnet for many painters and sculptors.
