Description
English: Flintshire Farms Inc. (originally Flintshire Pheasants) started in October 1977 immediately after Ken and Cathy Hook got married in Bon Echo Park.

With the help of the Hook family the pheasant farm quickly took shape. The first season (1978) Ken and Cathy purchased 10,000 day old Ring-neck Pheasants from Uplands Pheasantry in Aylmer Ontario.
In this photo the young pheasant poults are beginning to range outdoors in 12 foot wide conditioning pens. These pheasants were primarily sold to hunting clubs and the Ministry of Natural Resources in the provincial hunting areas (Gananoque, Simcoe, Sibbald Point, Bronte Creek, Scugog, etc).
Eventually up to 100,000 pheasant eggs and chicks would be produced annually for shipping.
Later the farm developed a white feathered pheasant specifically for meat and a federally inspected processing plant which remains today.
In this photo Cathy is checking the young pheasants. In her hand is a pair of hog-ringers made by Bostitch. These pliers applied a hog-ring once you squeezed it around two pieces of wire fencing.
