other unavoidable reasons are the onlyexcuses accepted for non-attendance or tardiness. All workmissed during absence must be made up in a manner satisfac-tory to the teacher in charge of the subject. Written excusesfor absences are required in all cases, and must state the reasontherefor. A deduction of four points is made for each unex-cused absence. Daily Appointments—The school session opens at 9:00 a. m.,and continues until 3:10 p. m., with an intermission of thirtyminutes for luncheon. Vacant recitation periods of all pupilsmust be spent in the study hall, unless the student is especiallyexcused therefrom; attendance at chapel exercises is requiredof all pupils. 56 Queens College Bxaminations and Reports—There are two general examina-tions, conducted in writing, one in January and the other inMay. There are six report periods during the school year. Reportcards are issued at the end of each period, and mailed to parentsor guardians. For tuition charges, see pages 71 and 72.
