English: Castle Square (Known as Schittersbrook in Medieval times!) As the stream running through what is now Castle Lake carpark would have undoubtedly been used for all sorts of undesirable pollution, the name may have been somewhat apt!
A bridge on what is now Castle square crossed the stream at an angle giving rise to the dogleg kink between Bridge Street and Quay Street. |
