Description

En otoño los castaños (Castanea sativa) se llenan de frutos. Se encuentran en las zonas más húmedas de la vertiente sur de esta parte de la Sierra de Gredos. Se piensa que los castaños fueron introducidos en la península Ibérica por los romanos.

Pero el árbol dominante de esta zona es el pino rodeno (Pinus pinaster) que crece hasta una altitud de aproximadamente 1600 metros sobre el nivel del mar. A partir de esa altitud crecen arbustos adaptados a estas elevaciones como los piornos.
