Description
Carte-de-visite photograph of Jacob Caraker. Caraker entered the service as a 1st lieutenant in the Baldwin Blues, but rose to captain of Company H, 4th Georgia, in May 1861 when George Doles was promoted to colonel of the regiment. After being wounded at Sharpsburg, Caraker's health began to fail and he resigned in February 1863.
