Description

Postcard of "St. Charles Street", New Orleans
View is from the 200 block of St. Charles looking downriver towards Canal Street with a good view of much of the 100 block on both sides. Note traffic going in both directs; this section not yet made one way. At left sign for "Dancing 10 cents".
I believe the first several blocks of St. Charles up from Canal Street were at the time dubbed "St. Charles Street", it becoming an Avenue only from Lee Circle up.


Date Not dated. Note short obelisk at corner on right-- that is the marker for the Jefferson Highway, put there in 1917, marking the earliest possible date. From the fashion, automobiles, and mix of horse traffic I'd guess no later than a decade later as the latest likely date.
