Cars take part in a car menorah parade drives around Greensboro, N.C. in December, 2019. The car menorah parade this year is designed by Chabad-Lubavitch as a safe way for community members to participate in bringing Hanukkah to the homes of those isolating due to coronavirus and is part of the worldwide Hanukkah campaign, an initiative launched by the Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson, of righteous memory, in 1973, forever altering the American awareness and practice of the festival. The campaign highlights and encourages the central theme of the holiday — publicizing the story of the Hanukkah miracle. Amid the pandemic, the Chabad-Lubavitch movement worldwide is preparing the largest Hanukkah campaign in history to share the message, spirit and hope of Hanukkah. The campaign will see Chabad-Lubavitch reach 8 million Jews in more than 100 countries with safe ways to celebrate the holiday.
