Notes red nursing cape with service ribbons - 14-15 Star, BWM, Victory and oak leaf m-i-d emblem Part of Australian Army Nursing Service uniform belonging to 22-52 Staff Nurse Ellen Bennett Brown, ARRC, WW1 New Zealander Ellen Bennett Brown, later Mrs Ellen Manson, volunteered to nurse overseas and joined the Australian Army Nursing Service in Egypt, where she nursed Australian and New Zealand wounded of the Gallipoli Campaign. She later served in France and on the hospital ships returning wounded to Australia. Ellen was awarded the Associate Royal Red Cross (ARRC) Medal, and was mentioned in despatches.
