Description
Français : Monument des chars d'assaut a BERRY AU BAC.char AMX 13, 13 tonnes, canon 90 mm, 3 hommes d'équipage. Ce mémorial national rend hommage à tous les équipages de chars d'assaut tombés au cours de la Grande Guerre. Il est situé à la position de départ d'où pour la première fois les chars français furent engagés en masse le 16 avril 1917 en direction de Juvincourt. Le monument a été érigé par le groupement des anciens combattants de l'artillerie d'assaut et inauguré le 2 juillet 1922 en présence des maréchaux Foch et Pétain, des généraux Mangin et Weygand et du général Estienne, «inventeur» des chars. A proximité du monument, véhicules blindés des années 1950 et 1960 y sont exposés et des panneaux d’informations présentent cette nouvelle arme, l’artillerie d’assaut, et son premier engagement.
