Description New Orleans, June 1896. Canal Street back from Carondelet Street, looking riverwards. The metal tower at the intersection was used for early electric street illumination. A banner reads “Grand Concert / Audubon Park Night / Matinee Concerts 2 to 4 / Sunday Wednesday Thursday”. Shows various streetcar lines at time of transition, with a combination of mule and electric cars, in addition to the West End line propelled by a steam dummy seen at bottom left. The back of the Henry Clay statue in the neutral ground at Royal is seen a block in the distance.
