Description New Orleans: Canal Street at the end of the 19th century. View is looking lakewards with the intersection of St. Charles at left. Henry Clay statue shown after its base was cut back to allow passage of electric streetcars, and before it was moved to Lafayette Square in 1900. Carriage traffic and electric streetcars visible. The gold colored dome behind the statue right of center was the older Maison Blanche Building
