Summary[edit]

Description
English: A Canadian soldier in the rubble of Cambrai, holding an armful of new German helmets. These are not the steel helmets used on campaign but pointed helmets of the old style, which the original caption suggests the Germans had intended to use in a victory parade if they had won the war.

This photograph was probably taken on or soon after October 9, 1918, when the Canadian troops captured Cambrai.
