Italiano: Il complesso benedettino è posto silenziosamente al bordo di un ampio e fertile piano carsico interrotto qua e là da alberi e orli di siepi. La scarna e armonica facciata della Chiesa - in pietra calcarea scurita dal tempo - i lembi di mura perimetrali, il profilo allungato e vigile del campanile romanico, spuntano quasi all’improvviso dalla vegetazione. La chiesa è a “pianta a croce latina”, con abside semicircolare sopraelevata.
La torre campanaria è caratterizzata da più ordini di apertura ed ovunque si trovano tracce che testimoniano l’esistenza di un antico convento. La struttura abbaziale poggia su un promontorio prospiciente la Valle Muzia, che la documentazione archeologica vede abitata privatamente - già in età romana - a partire dall’epoca repubblicana. La stessa struttura ecclesiastica è probabilmente costruita sui resti di una situazione archeologica complessa, che alcune teorie reputano compatibile con quella di un complesso funerario imperiale. La documentazione scritta del monastero inizia nel Medioevo con il regesto farfense: in due documenti datati 1026 e 1062, Santa Maria de Putealia compare non come proprietà dell’Abbazia di Farfa, ma come elemento confinario a sé stante e già dotato di un nucleo fondiario privato.
