Русский: В ходе наполеоновских войн в начале XIX века многие немцы сражались на стороне Французской империи. После победы над Австрией и Россией, одержанной во время битвы при Аустерлице в декабре 1805 года, Наполеон объединил 16 немецких княжеств, ранее входивших в состав Священной Римской империи, в Рейнскую конфедерацию под управлением Франции. После чего Наполеон низложил и Священную Римскую империю. Государства-члены конфедерации были вынуждены отправлять свои воинские части и солдат для поддержки наполеоновских армий. На этой карте и в прилагающейся к ней таблице показаны боевые действия, в которых принимали участие воинские части Гессен-Дармштадта, сражаясь на стороне французской армии на территории центральной Европы, Испании, а также во время наступления на Россию в 1812 году. Après sa victoire sur l'Autriche et la Russie en décembre 1805 à la bataille d'Austerlitz, Napoléon regroupa 16 États allemands qui faisaient partie du Saint Empire romain germanique en une Confédération du Rhin sous contrôle français. Il dissolut ensuite le Saint Empire romain germanique. Les États membres de la Confédération étaient contraints de fournir des unités militaires et des soldats aux armées de Napoléon. Cette carte et le tableau l'accompagnant montrent les engagements militaires auxquels les unités de Hesse-Darmstadt prirent part lorsqu’elles se battaient pour les Français en Europe centrale, en Espagne et pendant l'invasion de la Russie en 1812. Cette carte est fondée sur les recherches du lieutenant-colonel Jean-Camille Abel-Fleuri Sauzey, officier et historien français qui publia, de 1902 à 1912, une étude en six volumes des contingents allemands dans l'armée française.
Guerres napoléoniennes, 1800-1815 English: During the Napoleonic Wars of the early 19th century, many Germans fought on the side of the French Empire. After Napoleon defeated Austria and Russia in the December 1805 Battle of Austerlitz, he grouped 16 German states that were part of the Holy Roman Empire into a French-controlled Confederation of the Rhine. He then dissolved the Holy Roman Empire. The states that were members of the confederation were compelled to supply military units and soldiers to Napoleon’s armies. This map and the accompanying table show the military engagements in which units from Hesse-Darmstadt were involved while fighting for the French in central Europe, Spain, and in the 1812 invasion of Russia. The map is based on the research of Lt.-Colonel Jean-Camille Abel-Fleuri Sauzey, a French military officer and historian who published, in 1902-12, a six-volume study of the German contingents in the French army.
