Caminha es una villa marinera portuguesa amurallada, situada en el norte de Portugal, en la desembocadura del río Miño, frente a La Guardia y el Monte Tecla, en el lado español del Miño. Caminha es una villa medieval que desde la época romana fue punto estratégico defensivo, de ahí que fuese fortificada para protegerse de las invasiones extranjeras. Su puerto fue de gran importancia hasta el siglo XVI, debido al comercio de metales y pesca. Llama la atención las casas típicas de dos pisos, con las puertas tan pintorescas que podrás encontrar al caminar por las callejuelas adoquinadas del barrio histórico.
Caminha is a walled Portuguese seaside village, located in northern Portugal, at the mouth of the Minho River, opposite La Guardia and Monte Tecla, on the Spanish side of the Minho. Caminha is a medieval village that since Roman times was a strategic defensive point, hence it was fortified to protect itself from foreign invasions. Its port was of great importance until the 16th century, due to the trade of metals and fishing. The typical two-story houses, with the picturesque doors that you can find when walking through the cobblestone streets of the historic district, are striking. |
