Français : Nicolas de Fer (1646-1720) était un cartographe et éditeur d'atlas français. Cette carte coloriée à la main par de Fer et datant de 1720 est en réalité une copie pirate d'une carte manuscrite réalisée en 1696 par le père Eusebio Kino (1645-1711). Kino était un prêtre jésuite né en Italie qui reçut une formation de cartographe. Célèbre pour son travail dans l'établissement de missions et dans la défense des droits des Indiens, il fit également d'importantes découvertes géographiques.
